New To Bolton

Welcome to Bolton!  We are glad you have joined us in our community!

Bolton United church is located in beautiful downtown Bolton's core, west along King Street, across from the post office. For our exact location go to our Contact Us page Here for a map. For services and times go to our Services page Here.

Bolton United is a part of the United Church of Canada, Canada’s largest Protestant denomination. The United Church includes over 2 million people and 3,000 congregations. The history of the United church is closely entwined with the history of Canada itself.  It was formed in 1925 by a union of the Methodist Church of Canada, The Congregational Union of Canada and 70 percent of the Presbyterian Church of Canada as well as the General Council of Union Churches.  It was the first union of churches in the world to cross historical denominational lines and received international acclaim. The United Church continues to be a “uniting” church, and has been enriched by several additional unions since 1925, including other congregations and denominations.

The United church is a welcoming denomination and believes strongly in relationship and inclusion. We support diversity of thought, background, creed, sexual orientation, family structure and are respectful of the religious practice of all people of goodwill. We are challenged to ongoing renewal.  Following the example of Jesus, we believe that we strengthen one another to work, though God’s grace, for a better world.

The United Church is a member of the World Council of churches and supports working together in a common quest, renewing the true vocation of the church through collaborative engagement with the most important issues of justice and peace, healing a world filled with conflict, injustice and pain.

United Church Creed

We are not alone,
    we live in God’s world.

 We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
    who has come in Jesus,
       the Word made flesh,
       to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
       by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
    to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
    to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
       our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
    God is with us.
We are not alone.

    Thanks be to God
